Fishing East Texas by Season

Spring

Pre-spawn and spawn for bass (Feb–May). White bass and hybrid runs. Best month for trophy bass — this is when the big ones move shallow.

Summer

Early morning and late evening for bass. Catfish peak. Night fishing on Toledo Bend and Rayburn is a local tradition. Summer pattern = deep, structured.

Fall

Crappie schools congregate on brush piles. Bass feed heavily before winter. Often the most productive overall month with fewer crowds than spring.

Winter

Cold-water crappie bite on deep structure. Catfish still active. Trophy bass season on Lake Fork — fewer fish, but many state records came in Feb.
